1. SCHOOL PROJECT

Sunrise for hope Children’s Center is a project whose primary objective is to provide education to underprivileged children. The project is taking care for the children from the age of 02 – 06 years old. The children above 06 years old will be supported through our sponsorship program.

2. MOUNTAIN CLIMBING PROJECT

In the heart of Arusha Tanzania, a beacon of hope shines brightly through the endeavors of Sunrise for Hope Foundation. The foundation has embarked on a unique project that not only challenges the limits of human potential but also serves as a means to give back to the community they cherish. The Kilimanjaro Mountain climbing project stands tall as a testament to our unwavering dedication to better the lives of those in need.

3. WOMEN SUPPORT PROJECT

This project is initiated to promote human right education and skills boosting training like tailoring skill, computer skill, hand craft and other necessary skills in order to empower these groups to become the catalyst for community transformation.

Why women?
Women are marginalized by culture, tradition and systems which pose so many challenges, obstacles, hindrances and boundaries to them living their dreams and full potential. Women are facing many challenges like: –

1. POVERTY
Poverty leaves women and girls hungry, makes men take advantage of girls, increase the number of unwanted pregnancies, deprives girls of basic needs and leaves them worthless.

2. HARMFUL CULTURE AND TRADITIONS:
This leaves girls voiceless, strips them of their dignity and power, lowers their self-esteem and confidence, stereo types, gender inequality, gender discrimination and gender violence which all have their roots in culture and tradition. FGM leaves girls bleeding externally and internally creating difficulty and scars that may never be healed for a lifetime.

3. FORCED MARRIAGE AND CHILD DOWRY
This deprives girls of their childhood, makes them believe that they were only born to be mothers, wives and that their office is in the kitchen.

When you empower women, they take control of their life, makes good decisions and nothing can stop them. They will unleash their potential and will become the great leaders leading their life, family, community and the World to a better pace socially and economically.
When a girl stay in school and graduates, she is a less likely to marry early, more likely to be in a healthy relationship, has fewer and healthier children.
Women are empowered through seminars teaching the life skills and health, and fun activities which help to build confidence, all while equipping members to teach others.

Under women and girls project, we have several programs like: –
(i). Capacity Building
We enlighten, equip and empower girls and women to thrive through life skills along with SRH education delivered to the girls under our mentorship program. We enlighten girls about their bodies, worth, value, rights and potential, empower girls with the courage and confidence they need to defend their rights, complete favorable and thrive.

ii. Sexual & Reproductive Health Education
Girls and women are empowered to make the right decisions about relationship. Through male inclusion, which is needed for real gender justice to happen, boys and youths participate in gender justice. We involve the community in empowering girls and women, making everyone responsible and shaping their perception about girls’ value. We do this through weekly seminars on topics including personal health, study skills, life skills, culture and traditions, leadership, mindset, goal setting, healthy relationships, coping skills and more. The lessons are made fun so students look forward to it.

Menstrual Hygiene Management

We empower girls and Women to know their bodies and how they work and to have the sanitary supplies for comfortable menstrual health management and waste management. Incinerators are built in rural schools where there is scarcity of water. Girls learn to appreciate and accept themselves as girls. The availability of sanitary pads enables girls to attend classes on a daily basis and boasts their confidence and gives them a better chance to perform favorably in classes. Each girl in our rural partner schools and all those who cannot afford pads in our urban schools get a monthly supply of pads

Better Education Outcome

Girls gain tools to excel academically, to become leaders and to overcome different challenges they face in their society. Quality education is the greatest weapon against poverty. With so many obstacles to the girls, school can become unpleasant.

We enlighten girls about having a growth mindset, goals setting, achievement and visioning to help them keep focusing, work hard and not give up on their education. We encourage the girls to form discussion groups where they help each other, and we sit with girls who are struggling academically and try to find out what the problem is and then advise accordingly.

Academic achievements are celebrated and girls who graduates top in their class are rewarded during the annual graduations. Girls who are from poor families and ones with unsupportive parents get school supplies so that they can stay in school, focus and excel in their academics. The basic needs provided are contributed by donors, volunteers and sponsors and the well-wishers from the community.

4. COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROJECT

Under this project, we will support the underprivileged families by distributing food which is the most important in human life.

Sunrise for Hope Foundation has always been about community and helping people where they are. Sunrise for Hope has been involved in community outreaches from food distributions to midwifery seminars, working with local partners and tribes around Northern Tanzania. Currently Sunrise for Hope has two main strands to its community projects.

  1. Working with vulnerable families

Working together with community and government leaders, we select the most vulnerable families from a different area each year. On average we work with 50 families a year. We aim to give a “hand-up” not a “hand-out”. We provide tool for economic growth, access to basic rights (such as a light to see at night) and try to improve health. In particular, we are trying to help single mothers with school-aged children. We do this by:

  • Supporting their agricultural activities.
  • Give them entrepreneurship skills.
  1. Increasing capacity at government and Community Schools.

The number of students attending schools far outweighs resources. Schools lack classrooms, desks, teachers and books. Schools are often far from main towns and teachers have to travel a long way to get to work, costing money and taking valuable time which could be better used towards lesson preparation. Students often sot five on a desk made for two or sit on the floor.

We are trying to address this by:

  • Building classrooms and desks
  • Building teachers’ houses for more remote schools

Sunrise for Hope is looking for partners whether local or foreign organization and private donors to fund and take part in our community project.
